Deskins-Maxwell Home Tour

On Sunday, July 12, 2015, the Tazewell County Historical Society toured the Deskins-Maxwell house. Special thanks to the homeowner and wonderful hostess Ilene Yost for opening her home and sharing her wonderful lemonade with us on such a warm Summer’s day!

The Deskins-Maxewell house is one of three gray stone houses built in Tazewell County by German stonemasons, and was originally built for Stephen Deskins.

The build date is estimated between 1800 – 1810. It is constructed of hand-hewn native rock.
