Taylor's
Mill, early in the 20th century. Its current owners have restored the
exterior so that it remains a distinctive landmark of years gone by. The
dam at left continues to hold back water from the stream. The men in
foreground are standing on what is now a full-size bridge just off U.S. 19 and
460 near Maxwell.
The county and region were served at one time by numerous small grain mills. Farmers brought their crop to be processed into flour and meal, and in return, the miller kept a portion of the product as part of his compensation.
